Job Description

We are looking for a Production Area Manager to lead the production teams across the whole week.  To achieve or exceed production performance KPIs across a balanced agenda whilst maintaining compliance to the relevant health and safety and quality procedures and policies. The role of Production Area Manager has major focus on the more systemic aspects of operations such as co-ordinating CI, training, and longer term performance monitoring, trending and improvement

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the daily/weekly plan is delivered in full and in line with budget including labour usage and yield.
  • Monitor and report on hourly, daily and weekly performance where required.
  • Ensure all department staff are suitably equipped and trained to perform in their role currently and for future needs of the business.
  • Ensure compliance to all health and safety, HR policies and quality procedures both internally and externally.
  • Performance manage the Team leaders / Snr technician team including quarterly performance reviews, target setting and coaching where required.
  • Maintain good GMP of both area and plant liaising with Engineering where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the CI Manager to drive the LEAN agenda and coordinate projects to be delivered by the department
  • Being present in the department. Expectation of 80 % time spent in the department
  • Developing robust succession plan for department

 

Skills and Experience

  • A good knowledge of FMCG manufacturing processes
  • Relevant H&S qualification (NEBOSH or IOSH)
  • Experience of managing and building teams with a headcount >30
  • Relevant Management and Leadership qualifications/training especially within Disciplinary & Grievance and Conducting investigations
  • Knowledge and examples of application of Lean tools and techniques including problem solving
  • Good level of mathematical capability and an understanding of yield and efficiency
  • Good communication skills and a desire to build cross functional relationships
  • Knowledge of quality systems including HACCP and corrective and preventative actions
  • Able to effectively prioritise workload to meet the needs of the department
  • Able to give clear instruction and engage/communicate with people in positions above and below the role including reporting and presenting of information.
